How To Make Trap Soul Beats For Bryson Tiller

Study r&b, that’s all it is with trap drums. If you’re talking about how to achieve those types of sounds, it’s mostly just lush pads as well as a good amount of pitched-down vocals. If you’re talking about how to play it though, that’s a bit more complicated. A good go-to though is what’s known as the 2-5-1 chord progression. Just YouTube a couple of videos on that and you’ll be at least in the right direction.

Also a little tip if you’re going for that Bryson tiller sound…. reversed organs mixed in with your pads. You’re welcome.

A good vst for this style is trophies by Bryan Michael Cox and studio linked. Not too pricy and gives you some very unique sounds.

Look into using Reese basses instead of 808s for a more “laid back” smooth vibe that’s on that album.
They contain pitch warbling from detuning and usually have more mids than 808s do.

Also, look into using more low pass and sample reduction on instruments as that album has a lot of instances where those two techniques are used for the backing instruments.

White noise/vinyl noise just lightly in the background helps set a mood as well. Also, don’t be afraid to slow the tempo down a little more than you think. 110 in halftime still can carry a nice beat even though it’s slow and even more spaced out. Also do note that the vibe and sound you want have to start at your composition so you need to write chords and melodies and sound design to fit that style, don’t rely on effects to fix your sound to fit that style.

Look to use a lot of ambient pads and synths as your main melody; it’s exactly what a lot of the big producers do. Layer some atmospheric pads over 808s and drums and you should get your desired outcome.
