The following Scaler 2 VST review is taken from an online producer community discussion among producers who used the product.

One of my favorite creative tools by far, insanely useful. I use scaler in about 80% of my productions and the latest update added some really cool theory assist elements. There are certain cumbersome things in it still but it’s miles better than any other similar tool.

The only thing that really sucks is that you can’t add a chord by playing it on your keyboard/controller. You have to click in the notes you’re holding down one by one which is utterly stupid. Other than that, I’d say this is a must-have for anyone who isn’t already an absolute music theory and piano expert.

I mostly use it to help brainstorm on chord progressions, melodies, and basslines. I don’t use it for fully writing out MIDI, but I use it to get a vibe going and then copying the MIDI out into my DAW for more precise editing. I think it’s great for just quickly sketching out ideas, typically starting with a chord progression, and then just experimenting until something grabs you.

i bought it, i really enjoy it as a basic chord progression starter, there’s a lot of more that i can use it for that i haven’t learned yet.
