I like it, I use 3 DAWs, Bitwig, Renoise, and Reason, I switch between looking for ideas, the new combinator will help me a lot to sound design and synths, Mimic it’s a good addition too for me. For a lot of people it’s disappointing, but after watching the stream I really like the take they have on incremental updates on Reason + and what they bring to the table .

Honestly, I’m gonna love mimic. Combi ain’t my style but hopefully leads to a resurgence of refills. HD is cool and all but why would anyone want to zoom the whole application? I thought the point was going to be to zoom in on individual REs to work on them. And no workflow/sequencer updates send concerning messages. I know that’s just their focus right now but that’s been the case for two major versions now… If it wasn’t for the buy 11 get 12 deal i probably would have sat this one out too. Nothing wrong with reason 10.

I mean i bought 11 late on sale so 12 is a free upgrade but nothing really changed. The mimic sampler is cool and the new combinator but shouldn’t be the only talking point of a completely new version. I will not change anytime soon as I’m too used to Reason and I went from 5 to 10 and then to 11/12 so can’t really complain about the price. But would love to be able to freeze tracks…

It still handles like poo on my Mac Mini M1. Although can’t completely fault Reason there.

I’m quite disappointed.

Mimic and combinator are nice additions, HiRes is good although sometimes is laggy. But where are workflow improvements? Piano roll is in the stone age compared to Ableton, Logic Pro, and Studio One.

The new search in nice, but again not as great as in Ableton – if I click effects, it keep searching only in effects. This is so dull. I want to search everywhere all the time.

I probably going to sell R12, not sure I want to use it as a plugin.

Installation Guide

Step 1: Install latest R2R-WAIFU

Step 2*: Uninstall previous Reason versions

Step 3: Install Reason 12 using the provided installer (Setup Reason 12 v12.2.5.exe)

R2R Rack Extensions ▼

You need to have Reason 12 installed to continue

Step 1: Copy any RackExtension folders to “%APPDATA%\Propellerhead Software\RackExtensions\”

Step 2: Copy *.R2RRECACHE to “%APPDATA%\Propellerhead Software\R2RRECACHE\”

Step 3: Rebuilding the cache

Step 3.1: Run the provided Cache Rebuilder (RECacheBuilder.exe)

Step 3.2*: The cache file only works with R2R release of Reason 12
