KORG VST Review
The following KORG VST reviews are taken from online producer community discussions among producers who used the product.
I’m a big fan of nearly all the Korg legacy plug ins, and for that price you’re getting real value for money. Just go for it, I’ve definitely spent a lot more for a lot less over the years.
I believe they are worth every penny. Sometimes Korg hardware will get you the legacy collection for free.
Based on your setup I’d include a rompler synth like the M1 or Wavestation to contrast with your setup. MS 20 is a great way to get wacky sounds.
If you’re into the M1 sound, I think its worth it to get the VST over the actual synth. Sound close to identical, easier to program, some extra features (I think) and, to top it off, it has all the expansion cards, something you’re not likely to find easily on the used market. I got it for like $35 a long time ago.
I bought them for the M1 and stayed for the polysix, man does it sound good and I have some sweet hardware. I think all have something to offer. It’s nice to have the M1 piano and organ for some house tunes without having to get the M1 because I really don’t like it for anything else except those iconic sounds. That said I often use the polysix bass over my voyager for bass sounds.. yeah I know. Also some surprisingly good stuff out of the mono/poly too. I have the MS20 and don’t think the emulation is that good. In fact I matched the patching from the software to the hardware and it wasn’t close to the same but it doesn’t sound bad just not exactly like the the MS20. Here is a link where the brass stabs and bassline are the polysix software. The bassline is layered with the Moog.
