Simon Servida Pro level beats review

The following Pro Level Beats Simon Servida Course review is taken from a discussion in online producer communities.

I purchased the course recently and really think it’s solid. I haven’t finished it (I’m about 1/3 through), but I’ve also got some gems from it already. It’s structured very well and progresses in a natural fashion.

That said, I think for a beginner it may be a little fast in some spots and people will probably have to rewind a few times. It’s structured very well, puts an emphasis on music theory, however, unlike most courses it also places an emphasis on getting the melody/beat by ear: referred to as “audition”.

Some prior knowledge of theory will go a long way beforehand. One thing I do think he does very well, is unlike most tutorials where someone may blast through making the beat and they explain things afterward, Simon makes a beat and explains the decisions while going through each part: the melody, harmonies, counter melodies, decorations, drums, 808/bassline, etc.

Different examples using different beats/songs are shown while throughout the course there’s a beat that starts off from scratch in module 1 and is constantly adjusted in each module until the beat is finished.

From what I’ve seen, the course shows how you can combine both audiation and music theory. There’s also a large emphasis on ear training, which again is pretty unique. Honestly, thinking about it, I’d say it’s probably the most elaborate course I can remember taking. Not necessary by any means, but if you can afford it comfortably, I’d say it’s worth it.
